Deze piano is mijn beste vriend. Op mijn reizen tussen bed en keuken heb ik af en toe iets opgenomen:Deze solo EP "Rug" is een verzameling improvisaties op piano. Onder invloed van opiaten, maar met liefde.Around 2022, when I couldn't do anything for about a year, due to a rather painful hernia, I luckily had a piano at crawling distance. This piano is my best friend. On my journeys between bed and kitchen I occasionally recorded some music:This solo EP "Rug" (Dutch for "Back") is a collection of improvisations on piano. Koeien zijn heel nieuwsgierig naar muziek, het is goed voor hun gezondheid (zo blijkt uit meerdere wetenschappelijke onderzoeken) en koeien werken keihard voor ons. Het is tijd voor koe-inclusieve muziek.Met dit project zijn we op zoek gegaan naar de muzikale voorkeuren van koeien. Met de hulp van verschillende muzikanten en wetenschappers, zoals koeientaalkundige dr. prof. Leonie Cornips, onderzoeken we samen met het mensenpubliek de reacties van koeien op verschillende muzikale elementen, in een poging een vorm van communicatie tussen ons en de koeien tot stand te brengen. When the Brexit vote happened we felt a profound sense of loss. And what better than to use the voice of the best thing Britain ever gave us (the boy band) to try and win them back? With this unexpected approach we created dialogue and touched the hearts of many hard to reach people. After our first release the project has gotten mass media attention (The Times, The New York Times, Sky News, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and the BBC, to name a few.). Yet, unimpressed, it continued to play a melody. But it was no longer Für Elise– it made up a new melody, which I used as a basis for this piece.
