ES ILER ÜF

A music box was taken apart for examination and reassembled in a way it wasn't meant to be. Yet, unimpressed, it continued to play a melody. But it was no longer Für Elise– it made up a new melody, which I used as a basis for this piece. Written for the Asko-Schönberg Ensemble as part of their “Notepad” program. This recording is of the ensemble’s performance at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
